Haiti Update

The dire situation in Haiti is still wreaking havoc with the gangs in control, some have collaborated to expand their territory to engage in ongoing killings, kidnappings, sexual violence, extortion and displacement. Estimated 2,680 people killed and 1.3 million displaced. Police use drones to attack gang strongholds resulting in some civilian deaths. During the 600 new police graduate ceremony, bandits fired upon them. Aircrafts in the city are hit with gunfire causing closures. General elections are to be held in February supposedly as the transitional government steps down, most likely this will prompt further destabilization.

Saintard Home

There are 41 children at the home and they have attended school most of the year but sometimes they are picked up abruptly when there is potential trouble in the area. Saintard local peacekeepers block the roads to prevent bandits travelling through their area. Throughout the year many families and individuals come to the home not only for food and shelter, staying days or weeks, but looking for assistance with funerals, etc. Gangs impose “fees” on roads which have to be paid to deliver the rice. Pastor Eddy’s home was burnt down, but thankfully he and his family escaped and are living with relatives. The orphanage continues to be a “light in the darkness” to people without hope.

MAEHD

Unfortunately in March, Richellet and the 6 boys had to flee their home from the gangs who took over their area, with only their clothes and a few essentials. Thankfully they were able to find a small 2 bedroom house elsewhere. It is cramped but they are together and recently started attending school. We continue to support them and pray that they remain safe from attacks.

Satellite Service

$1,266.85 paid so that Sister Phyllis can communicate in and outside of Haiti. She is so very
thankful for this essential lifeline.

Local Update

June: Walkathon: 3 COHH board members joined with Planting Community Church for their annual 6km walk. We had numerous sponsors and collectively raised a huge sum of $9,988!
September
● In-person presentation at Hamilton Church of God on Haiti Mission/COHH
● We hosted a Welcome to Canada Open House for Dr. Erickson Cyruis. He came to the Orphanage at 11
yrs of age. As a bright student, COHH provided funds for his post secondary education in the DR and are
very proud of his accomplishments and to be part of his success story.

Here is a special message from Sister Phyllis Newby
“Blessed and loving greetings to you precious and wonderful people of God. I am overjoyed to send you
an expression of our gratitude and love. When we speak of the blessings of God in our lives, your caring
love makes it real. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and financial support, it is cause for rejoicing.
May the good hand of our loving Lord be ever upon you. – Sister Phyllis in Haiti”

On behalf of us all at COHH, I thank you very much for your great support to the ministry in Haiti and pray that God continues to move hearts for His work. May the Lord bless you and your family abundantly in 2026.
